Made this dress from an old pattern. Turned out pretty well don't you think? This one is sold but I still have the pattern if anyone wants one for their little one. The price is $99.00 in a size 4, 5 or 6.
I love the collar and the cumberbund. It takes yards and yards of trim and ruffles but the finished garment is worth the effort.

I HOPE THIS FIXED IT
I just love this dress. It is so elegant. A size 3 this dress has a jewel neckline, a high waist and long skirt and sleeves with flounces. The bodice and sleeves are lined. It zips close in the back. This is just one of the new garments I will be listing in my Etsy shop in the next few days.
By the way, check out the great sale I am having at Grandmabenny's on Etsy. Prices are slashed. All garments hand made by me.
You have to admit it makes the clothes look better than laying flat on a sheet on the table. What do they say? "Necessity is the mother of invention."

You might have questions
You might wonder where I've been for a year. Shortly after I posted "What happened to July" I became ill. I fought it until December when I just couldn't fight any more. I spent Christmas on the couch and with herbs and rest, I managed to make it to May 4 when everything went haywire. They tell me I nearly died. I spent the week in the hospital on antibiotics and steroids to get rid of the pneumonia. They ran lots of tests while I was there and found several other problems. I am just this month getting back to my "old" self. After all, I am old. I can still sew, though and have made several cute things in the last couple of weeks that I will be posting in my Etsy shop. Stop by and take a look.
I should hold a webinar. "How to NOT"
This is a demonstration of how NOT to take photos of your finished product. What can I say, I was in a hurry and ended up wasting a lot of time with no results. Have a doctor's appt tomorrow so it will be Wednesday before I can fix it. You will be among the first to see my new mannequin. It is amazing(not) but it does make a better picture than the above and this dress is too pretty to ruin.

What happened to July?
We're in the middle of August and I'm trying to figure out what happened to July. You know the old saying "Time flies when you're having fun." Well, I've had a wonderful summer so far and it seems like it was just last week we were shoveling snow. I think they should change that old saying to "Time flies when you get old."
We had lots of company (family) this summer. I had a houseful of sisters-in-law and it was great. Word of warning........don't try out new recipes on company!!!! My friend makes this awesome potato salad and she gave me the recipe. When it came time to make this awesome dish I had three extra cooks in the kitchen. It was fun and we laughed a lot but the potato salad most assuredly was not awesome.
Anyway, I am getting some sewing done this summer. Not as much as I'd like but my granddaughter is cute as a button in the sundress, panty and bonnet I made for her. Bought a new sewing machine. A Brother SE400 Embroidery/Sewing machine. It is awesome and well beyond my expectations. Look for more embroidery in future garments. I just love how easy it is to operate. My Viking has been semi-retired. The Viking stood the test of time but not technology. Anyone out there used a Brother SE400? Do you have any tips/tricks to pass along? If you have a moment, please take the poll to the right.
Thanks for your help. Catch ya later.

IF ANYONE MISSES ME
I have been laid up for several days now. I have to do everything in short bursts. I have trouble getting up when I manage to sit down. Will visit the chiropractor when my SS comes in. Until then I either stand or lay down most of the time. I would stand all the time if I could. No pain when standing or walking. Enough on that.
I managed to make this Feliz dress for my Etsy shop. I just love the material. It's "Possibilities" and it is so cute. I am planning another Feliz with the other two coordinating fabrics in this selection. I use yards and yards of ruffles because all the little girls I know just love to twirl.
I have been prewashing all my fabrics lately to eliminate some of the shrinkage before the garment is made.
Here's the Feliz:
